Introducing the Perfect Blend

That’s because we believe that this area, set in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, is the best holiday destination in the entire UK. Not only is it home to some of the most spectacular scenery in the country, but it is full of fantastic wildlife and has an abundance of great things to see and do.

This unique area gives visitors the chance to take it all in at their own speed. Family Mountain Biking

There’s a plethora of different ways to soak up this incredible place, especially if you crave life in the fast lane. This could be anything from flying down a series of hair-raising zip wires to dashing around the ancient forest in a quad bike or even getting kitted out in a wetsuit and taking on one of the fast flowing rivers. Aviemore and the surrounding area is thriving with local business and enthusiastic guides all ready to take you out and show you just how much this special area has to offer.

For those looking to explore the area at a more gentle pace there is great selection of local walks which really showcase the phenomenal panoramas that make the Cairngorms National Park such an iconic destination. It’s these stunning views and the wide selection that makes walking one of the most popular activities in the area.

Loch an Eilean

Loch an Eilean

A walk around Loch an Eileen is an absolute must for those that want to admire the beauty of the area. Set within the ancient forest of the Rothiemurchus Estate, the loch itself is only around 6 miles from Aviemore. Not only is this one of the most stunning places in Scotland, but the loch actually surrounds the ruins of an ancient castle that was once occupied by the grandson of Robert The Bruce, also known locally as the Wolf of Badenoch. The walk circuit itself is around 7km and takes approximately 2 hours to complete. That said, there is absolutely no rush when you’re in a place of such striking beauty – especially when that place was voted as the best picnic spot in the entire UK!

The Green Loch

Another great walk in the area is the circuit to Lochan Uaine in Glenmore, around 9 miles from Aviemore. Perhaps the most remarkable feature of this lochan is its very unusual green colour, which gives way to its more common name, the Green Loch. Despite still being very accessible by car, this spectacular walking route is certainly one of the most photogenic within the Cairngorms National Park. The circuit itself is probably around one and a half hours long, but the picturesque glow of the water, nestled at the foot of the surrounding hills is definitely worth the trip!

Cairngorm in Autumn

Cairn Gorm Summit Path

Cairngorm Mountain is home to the UK’s highest funicular railway and the highest restaurant in the Scotland. Take a ride up the mountain on the funicular railway to over 3,000ft before meeting a friendly walking guide who will take you from the top station all the way up the summit path to the very top of Cairn Gorm. This is option is ideal for those who may want to soak in those incredible panoramic views from the summit, but aren’t keen or able to walk the whole way up the mountain. The round trip on the summit path take approximately one and a half hours and if you’re lucky you might even catch a glimpse of some of the rather special wildlife that resides high up on the mountain.
